Dear Super Parents,
My name is Sherri Evans, and I am both delighted and honored to be your child’s teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. I am a graduate of Shorter University, and have experienced teaching in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade. My hobbies include reading, travelling, sports, eating great food, and spending time with family. The next few months are sure to be busy as we explore and grow together. As we are shaping our children to become college and career ready; we will be doing a multitude of activities involving reading, writing, and problem-solving. Our first grade students are embarking on new experiences that foster independence in their learning. Because of this, the year will be full of important transitions. It is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready. Maintaining each child's self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain my greatest priority. I have developed a classroom discipline plan with specific expectations for all students. Listed below are our classroom/group rules.
Treat others as you would like to be treated
Expect the best
Ask before acting
Minds on
Walk at all times
Offer to help
Remember the signals (quiet, question, bathroom, water, etc.)
Keep hands and feet to yourself
I hope to make your child’s learning experience a fun and exciting one, and I hope to instill a love for learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling. Let’s work together to make this school year full of fun, learning, and personal growth for your child.
Sincerely,
Sherri Evans
